My research focuses on how militarism and security threats affect government action on women's rights in the Middle East. I am particularly interested in this phenomenon in Jordan, where I conducted eighteen months of fieldwork as a Fulbright fellow during 2015-2016. This research serves as the basis for my award winning dissertation and my current book project.
My collaborative work with S. Laurel Weldon explores the relationship between feminist mobilization and women's economic empowerment.
